Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

To assist in the preparation, production and serving of meals within the catering service, deputising for the Cook in Charge when required, thereby contributing to an efficient and effective service.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with operations connected with the preparation and cooking of meals and the serving of food thereby contributing to a quality customer orientated service.
  • Assist in the preparation of food, beverages and undertake basic cooking activities in accordance with the Authority’s guidelines on the organisation and serving of food.
  • Undertake general kitchen and dining room duties e.g. washing up, setting up and clearing away of equipment and tables, cleaning of the kitchen, to contribute to the smooth running of the kitchen.
  • Assist with stock control, paperwork and associated records in accordance with departmental and catering service procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of the Catering Service to ensure the continued improvement and success of the service.
  • You may be requested to assist with any other duties to include function work, out of hours work and covering other establishments within the Catering Service.
