Job Description

Are you a Senior Support worker, with experience in leading a small team who support people who struggle with their mental health?

Would you like to work in the Social Housing sector, for an employer that is focused on providing the best service?

We are helping one of the largest housing associations in Wales, in their search for a Senior Mental Health Coach in the Blaina / Brynmawr area.

What does this look like?

  • A full time permanent contract as the Senior Support Worker / Coach
  • Salary of 34,586 per annum
  • 35 hour working week
  • Shift rota covering Monday to Sunday
  • Work will include days and nights
  • 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays (total of 40 days holiday per year)

What will you do?

  • Lead a small team of 6 Support workers.
  • Work to enable service users to thrive and work towards an independent future.
  • Assist the Team Leader in the day-to-day operations of the service
  • Provide staff support and supervisions
  • Help to plan out an manage shift rotas
  • Assist in the transition of service users in to the programme and out in to the community
  • Get involved in team training
  • Ensure daily mediation audits are completed
  • Work with outside agencies: mental health teams, medical professionals, police, Crisis and others

What do you need?

  • Hold, or be willing to complete, a Level 5 qualification in Health & Social Care
  • Training in medication administration (which can also be provided)
  • The ability to build trust with service users and staff
  • Experience leading a team in a support or social care environment
  • An understanding of PIE, ACEs and strengths and restorative-based practice
  • Experience advocating for and representing vulnerable adults
  • Able to create support plans and risk assessments
  • A full drivers license and access to a vehicle is ESSENTIAL
