Employment Type: Permanent and full-time (39 hpw)

Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 DOE

About The Role:

We’re looking for a personable, determined and creative senior digital PR specialist to help us get amazing press coverage on behalf of our clients.

If you’re an ideas person with experience in getting backlinks and coverage from top-tier publications in unique ways, we want to hear from you. 

As a senior, you’ll be responsible for managing the PR on your own accounts, from running brainstorming sessions, data researching to outreaching the final results, and knowing how to flip these campaigns to maximise the coverage.

You’ll be adept to using online data sources to find unique angles and stories that suits clients in different industries, and thinking of appealing ways to both tell and display this data.

Working alongside other PR specialists, you will mentor and help with best practices on their accounts and you’ll also contribute to other client brainstorms. As well as this, you’ll help the sales team with prospecting and pitching to potential clients.

You’ll manage digital PR projects for a number of B2B and B2C clients, so versatility and an optimistic can-do attitude is a must.

You’ll be expected to speak to journalists on a day-to-day basis about campaigns, proactive ideas, providing quotes and offering product samples from ecommerce clients in exchange for reviews.

You’ll be expected to work collaboratively with other teams within Liberty, particularly working closely with SEO on obtaining the best links for the client and ensuring the PR strategy aligns with the SEO strategy. Consistently working with Content team to provide in-depth briefs on the copy needed to support our campaigns. Also occasionally working with our PPC and Social teams for promoting campaigns, affiliates and aligning the PR strategy to their activity.

A strong, confident communicator, you’ll build relationships with clients and team members, be able to convince them of digital best practice and convey authority in your work.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Building relationships with journalists and relevant individuals to generate client publicity opportunities, with a focus on backlinks to our clients’ websites
  • Monitoring press requests and trending topics to create reactive stories for press
  • Mentoring the PR team on best PR practices, and providing expertise and ideas on maximising coverage
  • Running the PR on large accounts, from running brainstorms, data analysis, press release writing, media list creation and outreach
  • Auditing client and competitor activity to ensure we’re in the know of what other agencies/brands are doing, and to use this to help generate future plans for our own clients
  • Create media lists by using a database, but also manual searching to fill in any contact gaps
  • Writing press releases based on campaigns, proactive ideas and reacting to things going on in the news
  • Using both free and paid data sources online to create unique and interesting stories
  • Pitching these stories to journalists and mentoring the rest of the team on best pitch practices
  • Collaborating with digital delivery & accounts teams to maintain best practice and efficiency
  • Proofing and editing press releases from other team members, monthly client reports and pitch decks
  • Ensuring all client KPIs are on target, where not, proactively suggesting new ideas for obtaining coverage to achieve them
  • Knowledge of UK based agencies on events, resources and happenings
  • Supporting the PR Manager in developing the channel and our processes

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 4 years in a relevant PR-related role, ideally in digital PR
  • Will have a strong portfolio of coverage they’ve obtained in this time
  • Experience of running their own PR accounts, from a range of industries
  • Experience in securing strong coverage for clients
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and passionate about creating stories for the news
  • Strong understanding of PR and digital marketing best practice
  • Strong data analysis skills, including using free data sources to generate news angles
  • Good understanding of analytics tools such as: Google Analytics, Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, Buzzstream, Google Sheets, Response Source and HARO
  • Will be able to mentor and guide more junior members of the team in best PR practices, and help on other accounts.
  • Will have SEO experience and know which are the best links to gain for clients, which anchor texts are the most suitable and be able to look at what links/coverage are being brought through.
  • Will have experience with pitching, and helping create pitch decks and guide the sales team and SAMs on what we could contribute to a prospective client, or an upsell to a current client.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a collaborative agency environment.
