About the role:

  • This is a role within a specialised department of the council involving supervising and organising NMWTRA works programs and schedules to ensure the department delivers best value for works on behalf of NMWTRA works on all aspects of street lighting from civils works to electrical installation and testing. The team covers a wide area of Powys and bordering counties. And the work that we carry out is both interesting and challenging in equal measure.
  • The main purpose of this role is Support the Operations Manager/Area Works Manager through the production of performance statistics and the interpretation of any data trends to improve services. To help the team ensure we are recovering all costs from works for NMWTRA and attend meeting with partner organisations to ensure contract delivery and working schedules are prepared and maintained in accordance with CDM and health and safety requirements. Also to work with the trunk road
  • contracts technician to ensure accurate records are kept for income recovery and work schedules.
  • The post will also require assisting the operations manager in ensuring works programs and schedules are prepared and maintained for county works in the North of the county to ensure the department fulfils all its requirements of all relevant accreditation.

About you:

The successful candidate would need to:

  • Hold relevant site supervisor training CITB SMSTS.
  • Experienced in supervising works
  • Experienced in carrying out maintenance or repair works
  • Hold traffic management M7 qualification.
  • An experienced qualified electrician (Level 3 city & guilds/ NVQ) with 18th edition wiring and City ad Guilds 2193 accreditation in testing and inspecting
  • HEA Qualified supervisor and NIC Qualified Supervisor

What you will do:

  • Ensure delivery of testing and working schedules within the department and on behalf of external partners. Organise Column removals/ new column installs for the authority and NMWTRA
  • Ensure staff and contractors are carrying out works within the specification provided. Ensure all contracts and works are delivered within guidelines set out in the Powys County Council procurement process.
  • Attend meetings to represent the authority regarding works programs and service delivery for internal and external parties.
  • Ensure that all works are planned and fulfilled within health and safety guidelines. Liaise with councillors around street lighting works within the authority
  • Work with the operations manager to ensure delivery of target in relation to LED lantern upgrades and efficiency targets.
  • Check the files held under HEA portfolios are up to date and within standards

There is no DBS Check requirement for this position

Service: Highways, Transport and Recycling

Salary: Grade 10 Point 27 to Point 29 £35,745 to £37,336 per annum £18.52 to £19.35 per hour
