Avionics Technician

Aberporth (West Wales)

Supporting an existing, established manufacturing global company with the further growth of UAV product development and delivery in support of applications including defence, search and rescue, we are seeking experienced Avionics Technicians to join their operations team and support product testing in Aberporth (West Wales). These contracts are envisaged as being through to March 2026 or 2027 and have a strong salary level.

As an Avionics Technician you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing the WK system for flight Preparation of airfield for launch and recovery of UAV
  • Conducting any troubleshooting activity, including Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance.

The Avionics Technician will prepare their Remotely Piloted Air System (RPAS) for flight. You will also maintain, troubleshoot and rectify the RPAS avionics systems and collaborate with the wider Flight Line team.

Duties and Tasks include:

  • Maintenance of avionics and electronic components within the boundaries of the RPAS:
    • Undertake maintenance procedures
    • Maintenance of Ground Support Equipment
    • Troubleshooting via Built in Test
    • Troubleshooting via Flight Line Support Command Unit
    • Troubleshooting via Portable Air Test Equipment
    • Maintenance using Test Equipment.
    • Replacement of faulty LRUs
    • Preparation of UAV for flight
    • Preparation of GCS for flight
    • Perform deployment, pre-flight checks and end of mission tasks associated with the WK RPAS
    • Preparation of airfield for launch and recovery of UAV
      • Preparation of runway strip for UAV take off and recovery
      • UAV towing and airstrip activities
      • UAV Handling, cleaning, visual inspection, fuel and oil replenishment
      • Perform UAV post flight handling activities
      • Post flight routine data recording downloads of the WK RRPAS
      • Collaborate with a small team, certifying colleagues with supervisory responsibilities and completing and certifying any relevant documentation for work carried out
      • Conduct and certify independent inspections
      • Undertake RPAS Logbook and documentation management
      • Maintain the Software Library as a secondary duty
      • Conduct tasks orientated with Cryptographic material

To apply for this Avionics Technician role, you will need experience in Avionics maintenance. You will also require the following:

  • The use of Aircraft Data Sets
  • An understand of GOLDesp and RESOLVE management tools would be desirable
  • Experience in airfield/flight-line operations
  • Previous military or civilian aircraft experience
