The Governing Body of Ysgol Bryn Castell Special School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and caring Cover Supervisor to work in a highly motivated and friendly teaching team. The successful candidate will use a positive, innovative, solution-focussed approach to promote the learning, engagement, attendance, and wellbeing of pupils, supporting them to work towards achieving self-regulation and independence.

Ysgol Bryn Castell (YBC) is a community day special school maintained by Bridgend County Borough Council which provides education for pupils aged 7 to 19 years old with complex Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) including Autism alongside specific learning difficulties and other additional learning needs (ALN).

Applications would be welcome from colleagues with experience of working with pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and relevant learning strategies / programmes for pupils with ALN, who are looking to further their professional learning journey in an inclusive caring environment who are passionate about enabling every young person to achieve their full potential.

Bridgend County Borough and Bridgend County Borough Council came into effect from 1 April 1996, following the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994. Bridgend County Borough Council largely replaced Ogwr Borough Council, though St Brides Major, Ewenny and Wick were transferred from Ogwr to the Vale of Glamorgan.
In November 2014 the council voted to propose a merger with the neighbouring Vale of Glamorgan Council, though this was rejected by the Welsh Government's Public Services Minister, Leighton Andrews, as not meeting the criteria to be able to proceed.
