Bridgend County Borough Council offers a great opportunity for you to further your social care career. We want the best social workers to join us - this is what our children and families deserve.
We are a reflective organisation that continuously builds on its strengths and is committed to the principle that the most effective way of improving outcomes for all Children, Young People and Families is through the provision of accessible, universal services. Join us and you will work in a rewarding environment where staff are valued.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Social Worker to join the Information, Advice and Assistance Service (IAA) who is as committed as we are in working towards and achieving positive outcomes for children and families. The IAA service is a fundamental part of Bridgend’s MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) and work in close collaboration with partner agencies such as South Wales Police and Health in order to support families in line with the Social Services & Well Being (Wales) Act 2014, along with safeguarding our most vulnerable children.
Our targeted family support services are co-located with our safeguarding hubs, to provide a continuum of services ranging from early help to intensive provision to families with complex needs. Our Safeguarding teams are located in three community-based hubs around the borough. We also have teams who offer expertise in relation to Children with Disabilities and Young People aged 16+ who are entitled to leaving care services.
We are currently remodelling our services to ensure there are a range of pathways for children and young people. Alongside this is a review of our existing fostering services and some new and innovative resources to support foster carer households.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.
We encourage applications from both experienced Social Workers and those in their first two years of service. In return you will receive a robust induction, regular supervision, additional support and mentoring where required.

Bridgend County Borough Council (Welsh: Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr) is the governing body for Bridgend County Borough, one of the Principal Areas of Wales.
Bridgend County Borough and Bridgend County Borough Council came into effect from 1 April 1996, following the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994. Bridgend County Borough Council largely replaced Ogwr Borough Council, though St Brides Major, Ewenny and Wick were transferred from Ogwr to the Vale of Glamorgan.
In November 2014 the council voted to propose a merger with the neighbouring Vale of Glamorgan Council, though this was rejected by the Welsh Government's Public Services Minister, Leighton Andrews, as not meeting the criteria to be able to proceed.
