Join our dynamic, multidisciplinary Water Engineering team as an Engineering Lead (Carbon Reduction) in our expanding offices in Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Chesterfield, Birmingham, Croydon, St Albans, and Basingstoke. As our Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for technical leadership to reduce whole life carbon in our designs across our water sector project portfolio. Projects include waste and clean water treatment and pipeline projects for utility companies and flood risk management and environmental improvement schemes internationally.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and Innovate: Guide and upskill our teams to reduce carbon in our designs, challenge the norm, and introduce innovative solutions.
  • Make a Practical Impact: Utilize your engineering expertise and collaborate with fellow technical leaders to minimize the carbon footprint of our designs. Influence how we support our clients in achieving their net zero goals.
  • Be a Carbon Expert: Stay informed about all aspects of carbon in the water sector, including operational emissions, embodied carbon, renewables, bioresources, sequestration, and nature-based solutions.
  • Collaborate Globally: Work closely with other disciplines within AECOM, sharing best practices across our business and end markets. Engage with our global technical practice network to bring international best practices to our UK&I clients.

Qualifications:

Here’s What We’re Looking For:

  • Water sector solution and design development. A technical understanding of whole life carbon and the practical opportunities/techniques to reduce carbon in project delivery.
  • An experienced Engineer able to lead the design of projects to deliver tangible carbon benefits.
  • Water and wastewater infrastructure and treatment or flood & coastal project experience across project definition, feasibility, outline design, detailed design, and construction.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team player and relationship builder, able to influence and drive change from traditional approaches to lower carbon solutions.
