Job Description

Salary: G01 £11.59 - £11.78 per hour  (£22,366 - £22,737 pro rata)

Package: 6 hours and 40 minutes per week

Welsh Language Skills: The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

Would you like to provide support for children and adults crossing the road at a designated point between specified times?

Conwy are looking for candidates should have experience of working with children and are able to communicate well on all levels. The ability to engage with members of the public with confidence and diplomacy in order to advise on parking and enforcement matters. Experience in dealing with conflict situations is essential.

Job Purpose:

To ensure the safety of children and adults crossing the road at a designated point between specified times, whilst being mindful that this is not done to the detriment of the safety and welfare of other road users.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Contribute effectively to the Council’s traffic management strategy and road safety Service in accordance with Council policies and procedures
  • Carry out the School Crossing Patrol activities at the sites designated by the Road Safety Officer in accordance with Council policy and procedures        
  • Maintain control over children parents/carers who are awaiting instructions to cross.
  • Report any problems or difficulties to the Manager of the School Crossing Patrol Service.
  • Undertake duties with tact and diplomacy at all times when dealing with parents/carers, keeping any shared information in the strictest confidence.
  • Responsible for personal Health and Safety at Work, ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times and assist with carrying out risk assessments.
  • You must be aware of hazardous situations as they relate to traffic in all directions.

Monday-Friday 8:30am-9:05am and 3:00pm-3:45pm Term time only (paid monthly Inc. in holidays) 6 hours and 40 minutes per week or can be discussed at interview.

Due to the nature of the post the successful candidate will be subject to a disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
