As a Development Chef at Dunbia, you’ll be part of an experienced team whose focus is to develop commercially viable, creative & innovative products which drive growth, enabling us to keep ahead of our competitors, and maintain our strong partnerships with our long term customers. These include most of the UK’s large retailers and food service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the culinary development on concept to ‘approval for launch’ products and consultancy on ‘post approved products’ to launch for external customer generated briefs and internal projects, ensuring they deliver against Dunbia’s business plans, maximising profitability for the company and customer.
  • Present at initial internal briefing session for idealisation with brief stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and support the physical development and sampling of food products based on external customer generated briefs and internal projects, with regular check-ins and support from Head development Chef.
  • Aide in driving continuous improvement both on and off site with customers and suppliers.
  • Stay abreast to consumer trends and insights in conjunction with internal and external marketing resources.
  • Help provide support on food and quality related issues within the business to help support customer relationships, continues improvements and environmental agendas, and Dunbia’s business plans.
  • Travel both domestic and internationally depending on business and/or customer needs.
  • Liaise with a range of suppliers across a number of manufacturing disciplines to deliver external customer generated briefs and internal projects ensuring the developed third part ingredients meets Dunbia’s Policy & Procedures, Retailer Codes of Practice, BRC Standard requirements and industry best practices using internal documentation (NR.048) to support.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified chef with relevant catering qualifications.
  • REQUIRED: At least 3 years’ experience in restaurant chef role.
  • DESIRED: Ideally 1-2 years NPD manufacturing experience.
  • Must be able to present themselves well in front of peers and customers.
  • Motivates and inspires the team and business to new higher levels of culinary excellence
  • Expert food trend knowledge including tracking of food news/ restaurant reviews
  • Able to forecast potential trends that will emerge, draws insights for our business.
  • Attendance at selective food exhibitions/ shows/ seminars and summarisation of interesting ingredients/ trends/ products found that could be of use across the business.
  • Share inspiration & findings with key customers.
