Circa £40,000 per annum
Title: Head of Social Science
Salary/vehicle: Circa £40,000
Location: Home-based, with travel
Reporting to: Deputy director of conservation
Closing date: 4 October 2024
Role
Sustainable shooting delivers environmental, economic and social benefits across the UK, but this benefit often goes unrecognised.
The head of social science will work with national and international stakeholders to interpret and apply existing research and commission, or conduct, novel research to address knowledge gaps with an explicit goal to increase social acceptability of shooting in the UK.
This is not a theoretical or research-only post, and the post holder will be expected to work cross-departmentally to drive change in the shooting community and the wider public through the development and implementation of a wide-reaching strategy.
BASC - the British Association for Shooting and Conservation is a membership organisation and a national representative body for sporting shooting.
The organisation was founded as the Wildfowlers’ Association of Great Britain and Ireland (WAGBI) in 1908 by Stanley Duncan FZS and Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey Bt.
Our mission is to promote and protect sporting shooting and the well-being of the countryside throughout the United Kingdom and overseas.
