This is a unique opportunity where you’ll help us deliver an exciting and wide range of projects and activities to meet this target. We’ll value your enthusiasm, good understanding and passion for tackling energy reduction and renewable energy generation, and you’ll be able to influence in practice, using your experience of managing multiple projects.

You’ll be given responsibility, providing your specialist Energy Engineering knowledge, across a number of our Climate Change strategy themes. No two days will be the same in this role! You will be leading on our renewable energy plan, improving both Council and public infrastructure, and overseeing energy efficiency works across our wide building estate. Ideally you’ll have a degree level qualification in Energy engineering / Building services or Energy management and using your self-motivation and talent for teamwork, problem solving and working to targets, you’ll get to enjoy this great opportunity to demonstrate the impact of your work on the net zero carbon ambition.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Climate Change Programme Manager, and working closely across other Council departments, the Energy Conservation Engineer will play a key role in delivering ambitious energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Leading and providing technical support on: the Council’s investment in large scale renewable energy projects, the development and roll out of EV vehicle charging infrastructure across the county, and supporting energy reduction schemes across all of FCC’s non-domestic premises; you will be making direct contributions to the objectives of the Council’s Climate Change Strategy. To meet Welsh Government and local energy use and carbon reduction targets, working toward net zero carbon by 2030. Implement practical energy saving measures, renewable energy and other related projects and performance compliance. Develop and improve FCC’s energy management data systems, provide specialist professional advice and ensure the effective management of energy usage. Taking a proactive approach to raising awareness of practical energy conservation measures within staff and management, recommending effective solutions to reduce energy and related costs. Ensure that all undertakings comply with Local Government legislation and statutory requirements. Provide a ‘one stop shop’ for energy advice to all services within the Council to assist in meeting local and national carbon reduction targets.
