Package: Permanent – 37 Hours

We are currently looking to recruit a permanent qualified Social Worker into our Fostering Teams.

We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate assessment skills in relation to viability, connected persons, foster carers, special guardians and private foster carers.

Effective communication skills including verbal and written are key to this role as is having the ability to create and maintain good working relationships with all parties. Experience of undertaking and completing assessment in line with local, national standards is desirable

We are looking for someone who has experience within this field and has knowledge of the Social Services and Well Being Act (2014) Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is Desirable

Successful candidates must be registered with Social Care Wales and as this post will result in you having substantial contact with children, and/or vulnerable adults they will also be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Services check.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Team Manager this is a newly qualified role responsible for an allocated caseload under supervision, including assessment and appropriate management of risks.

This level 2 post will become a level 3 post after approximately 2 years on achievement of satisfactory standards evidenced through work undertaken and signed off by managers.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Undertake clear supervision, carry a caseload and undertake a range of community care and safeguarding assessments deemed to be suitable for allocation to a newly qualified social worker.
  • Commission a range of services designed to minimize risks and improve the quality of life for service users and their carers.
  • Work with individuals, families, carers and communities to help them make informed decisions, enabling them to clarify and express their needs and contribute to the planning of services.
  • Liaise with colleagues in their own and other departments and external agencies in order to gather information relevant to assessment and care planning activities.
  • Maintain and update case notes and other records, write reports as required, give evidence in court in relation to care proceedings.
  • Participate in programmes of training and associated work experience for social work progression.
  • Report any suspicions of abuse, following all Wales Adult Protection procedures
