Job Description

The above permanent vacancy has arisen within the Operational Risk Management Department, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Forest View Business Park, Llantrisant, CF72 8LX. The post holder will join the BA Maintenance Team and be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all the Service’s breathing apparatus in accordance with prescribed manufacturer’s instructions and Service standards.

The Key Duties Of The Role:

  • Maintain, repair and service the Services Breathing Apparatus equipment, including telemetry sets, entry control boards, EASE rescue sets, reducers, and ancillary equipment.
  • Maintain and update testing records, order and procure essential parts for maintenance of equipment through the E-procurement system, ensuring stock is maintained.
  • Test maintain and repair range of operational equipment, including fire helmets, high & lowpressure air bags, thermal imaging cameras and Gas monitors.
  • Face fit testing for respirators and Breathing Apparatus.
  • Attend any specialist training or re-training courses in relation to repair and maintenance of Breathing Apparatus, ancillary and other operational equipment

Permanent: 37 hours per week

Location: Headquarters, Llantrisant
