Location: The post holder’s normal place of work is MCC offices at Usk which may change in the future if the service location needs to relocate and which disturbance expenses will not be paid.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Highways & Flooding team for a new Technical Administrator. The successful candidate will report to and assist the Project Engineer (Flood Risk Manager) in providing technical and administrative support to the Flood Risk Management & Land Drainage Team in delivering its functions as SuDS Approving Body (SAB) and statutory duties under the Land Drainage Act 1991 and Flood and Water Management Act 2010.

The Purpose Of This Role:

The post holder will report to and assist the Project Engineer (Flood Risk Manager) in providing technical and administrative support to the Flood Risk Management & Land Drainage Team in delivering its duties under the Land Drainage Act 1991, Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and Flood Risk Regulations 2009, with particular reference to administering applications relating to Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) on new developments.

The post holder will also provide general administrative support to the Group Engineer and other Project Teams as workload demands.

Expectation And Outcomes Of This Role:

The Technical Administrator (Flood Risk Management) will assist the Flood Risk Management & Land Drainage Team in discharging the Council’s statutory duties in connection with its responsibility as SuDS Approving Body (SAB) under the terms of Schedule 3 of the Flood Water Management Act 2010 as well as Lead Local Flood Authority.

The post will give you the opportunity to develop your knowledge of flood risk management and sustainable drainage systems and to gain a breadth of experience within the highways and flood management sector.

Your Responsibilities Are To:

• To take receipt and process applications relating to sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) on new developments in accordance with Schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010.
• To liaise with internal and external statutory and non-statutory consultees by way of disseminating details of applications received by the SuDS Approving Body (SAB) and collating consultee responses for the consideration of Engineers within the team.
• To review weekly planning lists to identify developments that require SuDS to be in accordance with Welsh Government’s National SuDS Standards and to notify applicants of those requirements.
• To liaise with the necessary internal Council departments regarding the adoption and future maintenance of new sustainable drainage systems.
• To liaise with developers and other MCC Departments through all stages of the SuDS Approving Body (SAB) application process.
• To assist the Flood Risk Management and Land Drainage team in providing timely responses to general enquiries relating to land drainage and flooding related matters.
