1. The Governing body of Llangiwg Primary School wish to appoint a responsible, caring, reliable person for the post of school caretaker.
2. The purpose of the role is to work as caretaker of the school covering all aspects of the welfare of the premises.
3. This post involves general caretaking duties, but also necessitates a number of skills which will involve the keeping of necessary maintenance and Health and Safety records in liaison with the Headteacher.

Package: 16 hours per week (Monday – Friday), 52 weeks per year

Salary: Grade 4 SCP 5 £10,416 – 9 £11,134

Temporary position until 31st August 2025 with the of prospect becoming permanent.

To start on or after 4th November 2024.

• Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to take the initiative to deal with minor problems as they arise.
• Practical skills and a pride in high quality work.
• Good people skills with adults and children.
• An understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures would be an advantage.
• Applicants will work across two buildings.

The post holder may be called out in unsocial hours or weekends to deal with security problems and allow access for emergency repairs.

Job Purpose: 

To work as caretaker of the school covering all aspects of the welfare of the premises, including all aspects shown in the duties and responsibilities outlined below.

Duties And Responsibilities:  

• This post involves general caretaking duties, but also necessitates a number of skills which will involve the keeping of necessary maintenance and Health and Safety records in liaison with the Headteacher.
• Attend to the opening and closing of premises at designated times and be responsible for general security at all times – daily. In this connection school caretakers may be called out to deal with security problems, and allow access for emergency repairs.
• To undertake basis general maintenance and repairs in reasonable time. This may include basic carpentry, glazing and plumbing.
• To undertake further repair and maintenance tasks subject to your level of qualifications and experience.
• To undertake routine inspections of the site with a view to carrying out appropriate maintenance and repair work and monitoring the repairs and maintenance schedule – daily.
