Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Registered Building Control Inspector in Wales’ newest City. Newport is a city on the rise and has ambitious growth and regeneration ambitions. Current LABC projects include the £78 million components facility a number of large scale commercial and housing developments, school rebuild programme and refurbishments and numerous smaller commercial and domestic projects. As part of a team, you will be responsible for dealing with a personal caseload of domestic and commercial Building Regulation applications on an area-basis, as well as preliminary enquiries and dealing with dangerous structures and enforcement work.

The successful candidate will be hard-working, self-motivated and a team player. A HND / HNC in a construction related subject is desirable and registered min. Class 2 domestic level under the Building Safety Act 2022. Applicants must be able to travel around Newport to undertake site visits including on an out of hours duty rota for emergency call-outs. Mileage allowance is paid for site visits, and a stand-by payment is given for out-of-hours duty cover.

Salary: Grade 8 SCP 27 - 31 £35,745 - £39,186
