We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team at The Oaks Care Home, part of the Sandstone Care Group. Located in Newtown, Powys, our state-of-the-art, purpose-built nursing and residential home provides exceptional care to residents in a luxurious setting. Opened in January 2020, this 73-bed home features a coffee shop / bistro, hair and nail salon, separate dining and lounge areas, activities room, and landscaped gardens. With cutting-edge care planning and nurse-call technology, we offer unrivalled standards of care.

As A Maintenance Operative At Our Home, Your Role Would Involve:

  • Maintaining the building and equipment
  • Carry out routine checks weekly, monthly, annually on systems in the home and ensuring that external checks are carried out within the agreed timeframe
  • Monitor and respond to the fire alarm call, boilers and lift.
  • Make effective and efficient use of resources in any maintenance or repair.
  • Maintain the building, grounds and equipment to ensure the safety of residents, staff and visitors to the House including decoration and repair, minor plumbing works and maintaining the garden areas.
  • Maintain good communication and relationships with other teams and colleagues at the House.
  • Maintain awareness of the Home's policies and procedures especially the Fire Policy.
  • Participate in Training and Development as an individual and as part of the team.
  • Get involved in the induction of new staff by training them on the building layout and fire policies and procedures.
  • Maintain client and business confidentiality at all times.
  • Control and ordering of stock and acceptance and checking of deliveries.
  • Maintain an awareness of the Health and Safety requirements.
  • Observe and maintain high levels of communication within the teams of staff, individual colleagues and residents.
  • Maintain client and business confidentiality at all times.
  • To carry out any additional duties as requested.
  • Due to the nature of the role, collections for the Home will be required so Full UK driving licence essential.

The post-holder will assume responsibility for assisting in providing a safe, secure and attractive environment for our residents by carrying out routine, planned and responsive maintenance for the Home as required.

You will be expected to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of all internal areas of the Home, as well as tending to the gardens, car park and all other external spaces. There will also be a requirement to carry out regular health and safety checks and document these checks accurately and consistently.

Applicants will need to demonstrate significant experience of property maintenance and ideally also be able to undertake very basic plumbing repairs as required. The ability to show initiative and excellent troubleshooting skills are key requirements of this role, as there will at times be a need to provide and/or source solutions to maintenance issues arising at short notice.

Furthermore, candidates should be reliable, dedicated individuals of a caring and patient disposition and with excellent attention to detail.

Pay Rates: £13.57 per hour

Contract Hours: 37.5 hours a week

Shift: Shift pattern 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Half hour unpaid lunch per day
