Job Description

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our specialist rail and civil engineering team in the Wales region, playing a fundamental role in the commercial management of long term, secured Civils & Buildings Rail Capital Delivery Projects, throughout Wales.

Business Unit

A busy and fast paced business unit involved in a range of civil engineering works in a variety of sectors to include rail (bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels etc.), Environment Agency, Local Authority etc. The business unit are involved in multi-disciplinary civils projects across the Wales region, whether one off tendered projects or projects within our long term framework / contract agreements with key clients including but not limited to Capital Delivery Projects.

Existing contracts include CP6 infrastructure projects and moving into CP7, Capital Delivery Projects and Buildings & Civils Asset Management frameworks with works typically including bridge re-construction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms, access for all etc.), structures including bridges, tunnels, footbridges, flood repair and alleviation to name just a few examples.

The Role

As an established Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will join our commercial team in the Wales region commercially managing a portfolio of Capital Delivery Projects for CP7 Network Rail project works & Transport For Wales projects. As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for managing a small portfolio of projects ranging from £500K - £5m.

 Your day-to-day role and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Leading the commercial management of multiple sites on time and to budget.
  • Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time,
  • Resolving pricing issues with clients
  • Client Liaison
  • Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day to day remits,
  • Subcontractor management
  • Change management and early warnings
  • Contract administration (NEC/NR forms of contract)
  • CVR’s
  • Final accounting.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in a rail / civil engineering environment.

  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • Civil Engineering project experience (rail, bridges, roads, structures for example)
  • Contractual experience with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract
  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in a civils contracting environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills
