Environmental Protection and Housing Standards Team

An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Officer to join the Environmental Protection and Housing Standards Team on a temporary basis until the end of March 2025. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team responsible for discharging the Council’s statutory duties in relation to environmental protection, public health and housing standards.

The Environmental Protection and Housing Standards Team seeks to use its legal powers and technical expertise in a wider context to support the achievements of the Council’s key objectives, particularly to deliver improvement to the health and well being of the community. This requires close co-operation with the community, as well as with partners inside and outside the Authority.

The post of Technical Officer will be required to carry out a range of duties to contribute to the objectives of the team. These will include dealing with various public health and housing standards issues, including fly tipping / waste on private land, securing buildings and assisting with relevant sampling programmes. Training will be provided where necessary to keep the team up to date with technical and legislative development, although existing knowledge and / or relevant previous experience would be an advantage.
