Christ the Word Catholic School is situated in Rhyl and has been established since 2019, providing inclusive education to 900+ pupils from the ages of 3 to 16 in a modern school setting.

In readiness for our examination seasons, we are looking to recruit Examination Invigilators on a supply / per hour basis.

Appointed invigilators will be responsible for supervising GCSE examinations under the direction of the Examinations Officer. No experience is necessary as full training will be given, but applicants should have good communication skills and be able to adhere to strict guidelines as set out by the Examination Boards.

Job Purpose:

Undertake invigilation and other examination-related duties under instruction from the Examinations Officer and/or a Senior Invigilator.

Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • To be familiar with the awarding bodies guidelines on administration of examinations
  • Collecting examination papers and materials from the Exams Office, opening and distributing papers and other authorised materials as required
  • Distributing examination papers at the beginning of an examination, ensuring that candidates have the correct papers
  • Ensuring that the attendance register is accurately completed
  • Ensuring that candidates are aware that they are under examination conditions
  • Responding to candidates` queries in line with JCQ regulations
  • Recording start and finishing times of exams, ensuring correct timescales are adhered to
  • To invigilate during the examination and to ensure that none of the candidates breaches the rules set by the awarding bodies. If they do breach rules, deal with immediately by contacting the Examinations Officer and/or a Senior Invigilator
  • To respond to candidates needs e.g. a candidate who requests permission to leave the examination room, distributing additional paper/equipment as required, a Welsh medium candidate asking to see a copy of the English medium paper
  • Liaising with the Examinations Officer and/or a Senior Invigilator in the event of anyproblems
  • To remind candidates of the time remaining until the end of the examination and notifying them that the examination has finished
  • Collecting and collating scripts in candidate number order
  • Collecting question papers and other materials for return to the Examinations Office, ensuring that examinations conditions are maintained until all candidates have left the room
