Overall Job Purpose:

To undertake the cleaning of premises to ensure that they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition.

Principal Accountabilities / Key Tasks:

  • In conjunction with the Cleaning Manager to be responsible for ordering of cleaning materials as and when required within a specified budget.
  • Keeping accurate records of attendance and filling of timesheets.
  • To clean in accordance with the cleaning specification.
  • To use cleaning materials and consumables as recommended by the manufacturers.
  • To carry out the cleaning requirements and schedule, including: Cleaning, washing, sweeping and vacuum cleaning. Emptying litter bins. Polishing and dusting of the designated areas including furniture and fixtures. Cleaning toilets and shower areas.
  • Unlocking of entrance doors and all doors half an hour before the morning opening of the establishment.
  • Setting and un-setting of Burglar alarm, and attend call outs to the alarm as required.
  • During holidays and weekends opening for building contractors.
  • Opening and closing for out of hour lettings.
  • Carry out weekly/monthly tasks associated with the monitoring and control of Legionella in school and recording results.
  • During heating periods as specified by the head of the establishment, to ensure that the heating system is operating at the required level so as to ensure the required temperature is achieved by the time of opening of the establishment.
  • When heating system is operated by automatic timing mechanism, ensuring that the system is operating as required before opening of the establishment.
  • To report to the head of establishment any fault or irregularities observed in individual heaters or in the general heating system.
  • Cleaning and clearing of all outside covered areas porches and hard-paved areas of potentially dangerous or unsightly litter, e.g. empty cans, broken glass or bottles before children arrive at the school.
