What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Ensuring the safety of all persons on site.
  • To order all kitchen and goods for resale supplies from designated suppliers.
  • Maintain upkeep of all kitchen HACCP records at all times and to required standard.
  • Prepare, cook and serve meals, manage and organise team members to deliver high quality customer service.
  • Menu creation and design to achieve and maximise Gross Margin.
  • Liaise with and manage external bookings of meeting rooms.
  • Supervise and identify training needs of colleagues to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Strive to develop and improve the customer experience offering.
  • Maintain the food hygiene standards, upkeep and tidiness of the kitchen, in accordance with Welsh Water's Food safety procedures.
  • Engage with customers as an ambassador of Welsh Water.

About You:

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Commercial catering and kitchen supervisory experience
  • Practical health & safety and food safety experience in a visitor attraction or retail or restaurant environment
  • Catering / Retail customer service knowledge or specialism
  • Working with the general public
  • Ability to work on own initiative, and manage a large team 
  • Commercial awareness
  • Up to date Food Hygiene Level 3 minimum certification would be desirable
  • City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent qualification preferred

Please Note: If you are successful at first stage interview, you will be required to complete a 2-hour trial shift for final selection for this position. 

Good To Know:

  • Site based working at Lisvane Visitor Attraction Centre 
  • 37.5 hrs per week  - requirement to work weekends and bank holidays on a rotation basis - currently 1 in 2 weekends both days (no split shifts)
  • Typical shifts - 8.30am-4.30pm 5 days /week (subject to flex)
  • If you are successful at first stage interview, you will be required to complete a 2-hour trial shift for final selection for this position. 
  • Please note, we are looking for prior Head Chef experience for this role as there is a fine dining element.
  • From September 2024, we are opening a pre-bookable fine dining experience at our reservoirs and this will require our Chef to help prepare and organise fresh food, and bring ideas, creativity and flair. This will involve working across Thursday-Saturday for the first month of the scheme.
