This is an exciting time to work within the newly established Leisure, Tourism, Heritage and Culture department within Neath Port Talbot Council.

As a result of the recent approval of the new Neath Port Talbot Culture Strategy, Destination Management Plan and Heritage Strategy there is a renewed focus on investing in heritage, culture and tourism alongside our partners and stakeholders in the area.

We are currently looking for a part time Film Officer to join our new Events and Film Office Service.

The Film Officer will be responsible for setting up and delivering a Film Office function for Neath and Port Talbot. This includes liaising with production companies and other enquirers to promote the use of Council land for filming. 

The post holder will be responsible for promotion of the service and NPT’s filming locations, co-ordinating enquiries and liaising with relevant departments / external partners where needed.

The postholder will be responsible for administrating location hire fees, issuing agreements and monitoring arrangements in relation to the Film Office’s activity. A key purpose of this role is to generate significant revenue for the Council.

This successful candidate should be educated to foundation degree/ HND level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

The Main Duties Of The Post Include:

  • Act as a hub that deals with all film production enquiries on Council land.
  • Actively market the County Borough for filming opportunities while developing and maintaining an online library/ brochure of venues.
  • Negotiate land hire terms including fees and issue all relevant agreements to production companies/ enquirers.
  • Facilitate filming across the county borough by liaising across Council departments to provide a seamless service to film producers.
  • Liaise with relevant departments to facilitate services such as licences, permissions and road closures.
  • Maximise the commercial and economic cultural opportunities of film production for local, regional, national and international film companies by encouraging local supply chains.
  • Provide advice and support both within the Council and to external production companies/ enquirers on the feasibility of filming requests.
  • Monitor filming permission within the county and feed information into the relevant Council departments to encourage compliance with agreements in place.
  • Communicate with the Commercial Marketing, Tourism and Corporate Communications Teams to ensure filming locations and activity (where permitted) is promoted widely.
  • Undertake continuous review and evaluation processes for filming permissions granted to inform future working practices.
  • Develop close working relationships with commercial production companies, the local community and key regional and national partners.
  • Engage and communicate regularly with local partners, government bodies and local Councillors in relation to filming taking place in the area.

You Will Have Experience In / Of:

  • A broad understanding of the film industry, and what is needed for a successful location shoot.
  • Experience of marketing products and or services.
  • Experience of working in partnership to achieve common aims.
