As Chief Officer with responsibility for the Legal and Insurance teams, you will also lead teams of professionals and support staff in providing key services to the Council’s Cabinet, Members, Senior Leadership team and our service areas. You will lead key services to the community including electoral registration, Registrars and the Gwent Coroner Service. The role will also undertake the statutory function of the Council’s Monitoring Officer.

The role

As part of the Council’s leadership team, you will work closely with the Director for Transformation & Corporate Services in influencing and shaping the law and standards agenda. You will be the Lead Officer for the Council in this Area, ensuring the Service Area meets all current legislative, regulatory, professional and quality standards.

You will act as advocate for the residents and communities of Newport, ensuring their voice is heard and taken into account when developing strategies and delivering outcomes.
