Job Description

Newport Transport has now been operating public transport for over 120 years. During this time, it has seen trams, all types of diesel buses and more recently the introduction of fully electric buses and coaches.

Whatever the vehicles we operate, they need attention each night and day to ensure they are ready for the passengers. The job is the parking of the vehicles, fuelling/charging and cleaning. We have a small, dedicated team to carry out these tasks and are now in a position to add to the team.

This job is really important because it decides how people will see the buses and coaches the next day. You'll be hands-on and in charge of making sure everything looks good.

To apply for this role you must be flexible and happy to work outdoors throughout the year. You will also require a minimum of a car driving licence. An overall uniform will be provided.

We are looking for two permanent full-time staff members for the late afternoon/evening shift with regular Saturdays on a rotational basis.

What we offer

The job will generally be Monday to Friday with Saturday on a rotational basis - 38 hours per week. We have two positions available for late shifts - 16:00 to midnight and 18:00 to 02:00.

You will be based at Newport Transport depot.

In return, we offer £12.24 per hour and as part of the Newport Transport team, you will also have access to all our staff benefits which include:

  • Free bus for yourself and your close family members
  • Up to 28 days holidays (including bank holidays) with five extra days after 5 years' service
  • Company pension with extra benefits
  • Access to store discounts, well-being platforms and company events.
