Catering Assistant - Haverfordwest High VC School

1. We are seeking an individual to join our team as Catering Assistant.
2. The purpose of the role is to assist the Cook Supervisor and Cook in the preparation and production of meals and delivery of the cafeteria service for a comprehensive school.
3. You will prepare and cook all meals, salads, sandwiches etc. for customers to purchase.

Salary: Grade 2 - £22,366 for 20 hours per week term time only for 44.8 weeks per annum equating to £10,387.80 pro rata.

Job Purpose:

To assist the Cook Supervisor and Cook in the preparation and production of meals and delivery of the cafeteria service for a comprehensive school. Take payment by a cashless method in accordance with the Catering Section’s procedures and standards.

Principal Responsibilities:

• To prepare and cook all meals, salads, sandwiches etc. for customers to purchase. To prepare hot/ cold drinks for sale as per customer orders. 
• To carry out the washing up of all pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, work surfaces and floors as instructed
• To maintain standards of hygiene and cleanliness and observe all requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
• To prepare all tables and dining area is clean for customers to use.
• To work on large catering equipment after relevant training. 
• Ensuring correct charges are made to the clients account by using the cashless payment system
• To carry out any other task as directed by the Cook Supervisor.

Personal Specifications:

• Should have NVQ in catering or be prepared to work towards relevant NVQ. 
• Have attended or be prepared to attend a basic hygiene course.   
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate with customers in a polite manner.
