Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Service has heart for the community in Pembrokeshire. We have a strong reputation for working with the vibrant community and voluntary sector across the county, delivering vital services and support to those in need. We encourage and support volunteers, we catalyse community action through grant funding, we engage on policies and initiatives with local and national government, the health board and businesses, and we help third sector organisations operate at their full potential. From our office in Haverfordwest, we operate the Pembrokeshire Community Hub which is a one-stop-shop for advice, information and support from the hundreds of community and voluntary organisations in the county. Our 8 Community Connectors are based across Pembrokeshire providing an essential role in supporting people to access community-level services and activities that will help them maintain independent lives.
Our 28 staff bring a wealth of experience and expertise. We are passionate about our work and are a supportive team. We are innovative and creative, collaborative and enthusiastic, inclusive and kind. Above all, we take pride in our work and strive for excellence in everything we do. Our annual turnover of over £1m is largely derived from grant funding, which we administer on behalf a range of public and private sector organisations. We are alive to the pressures on public sector funding, the growing demand for services from individuals and the need to expand the number of volunteers. Nonetheless we are excited about opportunities to build and strengthen the third sector arising from green investment into Pembrokeshire as well as developing innovative ways of delivering key services.
About The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your marketing and communications skills to amplify PAVS’ profile across our community, develop a positive story of our impact with communities, organisations and individuals and grow our member base. Working closely with PAVS Senior Management Team in delivering PAVS 5-year Strategic Plan, this is a new role that will build our profile across traditional and digital communications, targeting our stakeholders with compelling stories to promote our visibility and impact. You will increase engagement with volunteers, community and voluntary organisations, as well as with our funding partners from the public and private sector. You will ensure that PAVS serves its current members effectively, as well as attracting new members through a refreshed offer. You will play a key role in ensuring we deliver on our mission to deliver excellent services that connect, enable, inspire and advocate for communities, groups, volunteers and individuals across Pembrokeshire.
Pembrokeshire County Council is the local authority for the county of Pembrokeshire, one of the principal areas of Wales.
Since the 2017 election the council has been led by a coalition of some of the independent councillors, Labour, Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats, with the same coalition continuing following the 2022 election.
The first election to the modern council was held in 1995, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its powers on 1 April 1996. Independent councillors have held over half the council's seats ever since 1996:
