Job Description

About the role:

We have 5 Children residential homes around Powys, located in Ystradgynlais, Brecon, Welshpool and near Llanbrynmair. We are looking to build up a team a relief workers, that we can relay on to cover sickness or other absences.

The home supports children/young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties due to their early life experience (Age 11-18). You will create a safe, healthy, learning, fulfilled home where children have their voices heard and acted upon to achieve positive outcomes in their lives.

What you will do:

  • You will work alongside the permanent team to deliver support to the children and young people.
  • You will work on a day shift rota to provide continuous care as part of team to the children and young people living in the home.
  • You will build positive relationships through nurture, teaching connection before correction with a patient and calm manner and promote healthy, safe routines by creating a warm, inclusive home.
  • You will organise and promote activities for children and young people to learn new things and explore interests, hobbies, and life skills within the home and the local community.
  • Work in partnership with families and carers of young people in achieving the aims and objectives of the young people’s plans.
  • You will follow agreed policies, procedures, and legislative standards in your work. Always striving to keep up to date with best practice.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • The postholder will be required to assist the Registered Home Manager to provide a quality service that meets the individual needs of the children and young people living within the residential provision.
  • The postholder will be responsible for supporting with all aspects of day to day living within the Care Home- Children’s Residential.
  • The postholder will be required to work on a shift basis, including sleep in duties.
  • To work a rota that will consist of day, evening and weekend cover and to sleep in on a rota basis as required. To encourage a culture of flexibility and team working amongst the workforce and be prepared to work in other Care HomesChildrens Residential if required.
  • Undertaking key worker tasks and responsibilities as directed. To actively promote, participate in and ensure the provision of high standards of physical care, hygiene, safety and welfare of all children and young people. To ensure the home is a warm, accepting environment whereby the emotional, social, educational, cultural and spiritual needs of individual young people can be met.
