We are looking for a motivated, qualified and skilled lawyer to work on a diverse range of commercial matters relating to procurement and contractual matters.
The Council has some exciting and significant projects ongoing and in the pipeline including regeneration projects and projects supported by UK Levelling Up funding. Legal Services provide support to all Council services on a diverse range of transactional matters. The successful candidate will provide advice on procurement law and potential challenges, have knowledge of commercial legal practice, risk based decision making and experience of collaborative working.
You should be a confident, skilled and enthusiastic lawyer with a positive commercial approach. You must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister holding a current practising certificate, or a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or equivalent.
Job Purpose:
To undertake legal work within the relevant functional area, or such other areas within Legal Services as may be required from time to time, to advise on legal matters; to act on the Council's instructions and where necessary and appropriate to represent the Council in Court and at tribunals, hearings, mediations and inquiries.
The legal work comprises a varied non-contentious workload. The work will include; advising on Contractual and Procurement law matters; and carrying out any other legal work necessary for the performance of the legal function from time to time.
