Job description

This role involves supporting the development, implementation, and management of a range of strategic interventions, which support our people and foster an inclusive culture. Acting as a disability subject matter expert, actively promoting well-being and disability awareness, removing potential barriers and advocating compliance with legislation and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities 

Acting as the Disability Subject Matter Expert by championing disability across DVLA, acting as a Disability Confident expert and using up to date knowledge to raise awareness of disability and build capability across the Agency.

  • Developing and maintaining workplace adjustments guidance, procedures and other inclusion policies/guidance for colleagues and managers.
  • Working in partnership with DVLA colleagues to support activities relating to workplace adjustments, and diversity information across the agency, the department, and wider Civil Service.
  • Working with colleagues and stakeholders, providing specialist input to the planning and implementation of policies, procedures, organisational development interventions, change programmes and associated change plans to achieve changes to process, leadership, culture and people capabilities.
  • Broadening their areas of specialism by working closely with the SMEs on projects outside their current area of expertise.

Person specification

To be successful you will need to be someone who has knowledge and understanding of Inclusion and Wellbeing, with a specific focus on disability and accessibility. You will also need to have knowledge and understanding of inclusive practices and equality/diversity issues in a workplace setting.

You are someone that can build and maintain strong working relationships with others, being able to influence others and support them to assist them in their development.

You don’t need to be a HR professional or have a background in HR to be eligible to apply for this role.

Due to the evolving nature of the business, vacancies can become available at any time. Therefore, this campaign may create a reserve list to fulfil demand if it arises which will be held for a period of 12 months.

Qualifications

CIPD level 5, or willingness to work towards once in post.
