Join us, as we rise to the challenge and build a world where nothing goes to waste
Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.
We have an opportunity in Trident Park for an EC&I Engineer to join our team working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The salary for this role will be circa £60,000 per year, and participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.
The closing date for applications is 3rd October 2024. We encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early if we receive a high number of applications.
Energy Recovery Facilities are vital in supporting the UK’s ambition to reduce waste in an efficient and effective manner, helping to reduce the impact of waste on climate change. After reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible, our Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) provide the infrastructure to efficiently recover energy from residual waste, meaning landfill becomes the last resort.
Joining our team and reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, the EC&I Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the mechanical engineering and maintenance on site in co-operation with the Mechanical Engineers. Your goal is to ensure optimal long-term availability of the plant, and you will work closely with the site teams to preserve the value of the assets and to meet set health and safety, environmental and financial targets.
In your role, you will be responsible for all electrical, controls and instrumentation engineering, alongside the efficient planning and execution of maintenance activities associated with the ERF plant, including the stores and workshops management. You will also use your engineering expertise and guidance to help others develop their skills.

Viridor Limited (from the Latin 'to become green') is a recycling, renewable energy and waste management company in the United Kingdom owned by KKR.
The company was formed in 1956 as Harrison Western Limited, later becoming Haul Waste Limited. Haul Waste became part of Pennon in 1993, and grew by purchasing companies in the waste collection and landfill disposal market. In May 2021, we committed to becoming the UK’s first climate positive waste management company by 2045 – removing more emissions from the atmosphere than we create.
