We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our ever-growing team in Newport, South Wales!

Your Day-To-Day:

We Care About Your Work/Life Balance:

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, and that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.

Typically, the full-time position includes working 4 days a week with 1:5 Saturdays which are incorporated within your hours. We are also happy to consider part-time applications. Our Surgery opening hours are 8:30 am-6 pm. Typically a full-time shift would be required to work 8:30 am - 6:30 pm with a one-hour lunch break.

About Summerhill Vets:

We are a busy small animal practice seeing a large diverse caseload and can offer many opportunities to try out something new medically or surgically with the support of the team. The practice is due a refurbishment in July 2024 to help us expand our workload and provide the best service for our clients and patients.

We have top-of-the-range facilities including an ultrasound machine, endoscope, dental radiography and Idexx in-house lab equipment.

Meet The Team:

Our group Clinical Director is based at this site and is very much hands-on with clinical work and supports with the team. We have many certificate-holders within our team and encourage self-development, with full support from your team and financial support from the practice. We strive for high clinical standards, practice evidence-based medicine, run monthly morbidity and mortality meetings, and regular in-house CPD, practice meetings and encourage a caring and sharing culture.

Our team consists of 6 vets with a mix of full and part-time, with a minimum average of 4 vets per day. We have a large nursing team to help support the vets to let you be able to do what you do best. Our nurses are always on hand and most are comfortable with schedule 3 procedures.

We run a satellite clinic from our Surgery every Tuesday afternoon for ophthalmology specialist Brian Patterson from Vale Vets. He is always on hand to ask for advice about any tricky eye cases.

Our team love to organise nights out, mountain walks, and team events and try to take on a challenge every year. Last year the staff completed the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge raising money for a charity that was close to a receptionist's heart.
