Job Description

About The Job:

Admiral Money is expanding, and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Credit Risk Analyst to join the team. The role involves taking the lead on credit risk and pricing analytics for our motor lending product. This role will be responsible for building credit risk and pricing models, monitoring actual portfolio performance relative to modelled expectations, and refining the credit strategy.

At Admiral Money, we have several product verticals, one of which is Motor Finance. The Motor Finance industry is evolving and there is an opening in the market to provide a complete offering (HP and PCP) across digital and physical channels. In addition, we are seeing customers feeling more empowered and in-control which means it is vital we deliver relevant, customer-focused products.

Here at Admiral, we are best placed to respond to this, with over 20 years’ experience in the Motor industry we are a highly trusted and respected brand. In addition, we have built deep data over many years across our millions of customers and we’re now ready to be in the driving seat! To do this we need to strengthen and grow our team to help us on our journey!

The successful candidate will be able to quickly fit into a fast-moving, innovative, and high-profile environment, and will be required to hit the ground running. Prior consumer lending experience in a credit risk function is therefore a prerequisite. The role involves managing and evaluating our decisioning strategies; candidates will be involved in setting direction and leading the way, whilst very much retaining a hands-on approach.

The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of skills, including strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency with SQL for data extraction; Python and Excel for data analysis and modelling; and an understanding of building credit risk scorecards.

This role can be fully remote with occasional visits into the Cardiff office. We are open to discussing individual working arrangements.

About Admiral Money:

Admiral Money is an exciting, new division of Admiral Group. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral.

The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.

We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and deploy effective and efficient decisioning rulesets and policies, producing actionable proposals and implementation plans.
  • Monitoring the risk/reward profile of the portfolio (with IRR/NPV models), reviewing and proposing changes to acquisition strategies.
  • Segmenting the portfolio by suitable risk-related variables to identify any emerging trends, concentrations, potential new risks.
  • Refining the affordability process including making improvements to the net disposable income model.
  • Analysis of retro data to inform lending strategy, identify predictive features, and set risk grade bandings.
  • Providing waterfall views of credit rules at product level, identifying problem areas and opportunities to expand.
  • Generate key management information to support business direction setting and ensure Risk Appetite goals are met.
  • Design and deliver enhancements to credit risk strategies to achieve the right outcome for our customers.
  • Apply commercial acumen to interpret results and produce actionable recommendations to optimise how we deal with risk.

Requirements:

The Successful Candidate Will Ideally Have:

  • Advanced financial modelling skills, experience building and evaluating scorecards.
  • Demonstrated ability to build comprehensive reports to segment and analyse portfolio performance.
  • Experience of extracting, manipulating, and reviewing data using SQL.
  • Experience of using Python (Pandas, Sci-Kit Learn, NumPy) or other relevant programming language/software for data analysis and modelling.
  • Prior experience of consumer credit risk (motor lending experience would be particularly helpful).
  • High quality written work.
  • Experience presenting and explaining the results of analyses to a range of audiences.
  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA, FRM) is a plus.
