Job Description

We are looking for a qualified multi skilled Joiner to NVQ Level 2 and above to join our in-house, working across the Responsive, Planned maintenance and Refurbishment teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of carpentry techniques and the ability to work independently on projects.

Key Responsibilities:

The post is within the Response Repairs Section of Housing Department, which is responsible for maintaining 11,044 council houses and is staffed by approximately 200 employees. The post is responsible for carrying out repairs, improvement works and refurbishments as required to Wrexham’s council house stock. The post at times will be expected to work as part of teams covering work on tenancy repairs, vacant properties, capital programmes and be flexible to work between teams as workloads and service demands.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To carry out day to day refurbishments, maintenance and repairs to Council properties as instructed by the relevant site agent/manager or planning team members.
  • To carry out any new installation works whilst undertaking any remedial repairs as required.
  • To undertake all types of joinery maintenance works including all types of PVCu windows and doors, composite doors, lock changes etc.
  • To accurately complete all documentation (electronic or paper) associated with the duties of a joiner, across all areas of housing repairs and ensure prompt completion of all necessary paperwork in relation to daily tasks.

The ideal candidate(s) is required to ensure that all duties and performance standards comply with:

  • Following health and safety regulations, ensuring that all equipment is used correctly and safely.
  • Liaise with Contract Holders, other tradespeople, and council representatives as required to complete projects efficiently, in a professional manner.
  • Ensure all work is performed to a high-quality standard of finish, in accordance with requirements of the job and in line with WCBC’s specifications, in conjunction with predetermined timescales and deadlines.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role (including apprenticeship).
  • Full UK driving license at application stage.
  •  A strong understanding of carpentry techniques and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A commitment to providing excellent customer service.
